Sex Toy Advice

So you've decided, either on your own or with your partner, to buy one or more sex toys.  First of all, congratulations.  Not everyone is comfortable enough with their sexuality to even consider such a thing, so well done you for being adult and uninhibited.

Now, that said, you probably do still have some preferences in regard to what you want to try, and there's nothing at all wrong with that.  Everyone's tastes are different.  Maybe you just want a simple dildo, or perhaps you're interested in trying something a little wilder, like  a we-vibe or a rabbit vibrator.

In some ways, this decision is easier if you're just buying a sex toy for your own personal use.  If you're buying it to use with other people, and particularly if you're buying it with them, it's a good idea to discuss what sort of things you're each interested in beforehand and try to reach a consensus.  If you each do a search of sex toys online and get an idea of what there is to choose from, you'll be able to get through this conversation without too much difficulty – and you may learn about an option or two you weren't previously aware of while you're at it!

Obviously, if you're buying a surprise gift for someone else, this may be tricky to do without giving away the surprise – but it is doable.  You can introduce the topic indirectly, and then carefully lead the conversation around to finding out the things you want to know.  If you're still not sure what exactly to get them after that, go with one of the more conservative options that you discussed – it's less confronting for them, and if it's not what they really want, they can always trade it for something else if that's what they prefer.

If this is your first sex toy, you'll also need to consider where you plan to use it, and how to store it when its not in use.  If you're only planning on using it at home, that's fairly straightforward, but you want to be able to take it with you on your travels, you may also need to purchase something to carry it in discreetly.  Storing sex toys is fairly simple, but most people prefer to store their sex toys somewhere relatively private, so that casual visitors will not stumble across them.  For most people, this will also be somewhere near where they intend to use the toys – which usually means either the bedroom or the bathroom.  If you do plan to store your sex toys in the bathroom, it may be worthwhile storing them in a locked container, just to be on the safe side – random visitors are far more likely to be looking through the contents of your bathroom than nearly any other room of the house.
